What's inside
Everything I wish I'd known when I started applying: the structure, the bullet formula, and example lines you can adapt.
-
A one-page, ATS-clean template
Single column, real Word styles, tab-stop dates and real bullets. No tables, text boxes or images, so it parses cleanly and edits easily in Word or Google Docs.
-
A guide built around the 30-second scan
School and GPA, bold firm names, the first few words of each bullet, numbers. The guide shows where the eye lands and how to put your strongest signal there.
-
10 annotated example bullets
Each one follows the formula (verb + technical term + scale + result) and comes with a "Screener sees:" note explaining why it works.
-
Weak-to-strong rewrites + 11 mistakes
Side-by-side rewrites, plus the common mistakes that get resumes cut, including disclosing confidential deals and overstating your role.
-
No banking internship yet? Covered.
How to turn student funds, case competitions and non-finance jobs into banking signal, plus a final 60-second checklist before you hit submit.
From the guide: one rewrite
The strong version leads with the verb and the technical term, and gives a number the eye can catch. (Figures are illustrative.)
Who made this
I'm the founder of Harbour & Wall: ex-bulge-bracket, now in trade support at a top hedge fund, with earlier internships at a top PE firm, a bulge-bracket bank and a global payments company.
I've rewritten my own resume more times than I'd like to admit and made most of the mistakes in the guide myself. This template puts the fixes in one place so you don't have to learn them the slow way.
Harbour & Wall is an independent free resource. It isn't affiliated with any bank or fund, and it isn't a recruiting service.
FAQ
Is it really free?
Yes. No payment details, nothing to unlock later. Enter your email, confirm it from the email we send, and download the files. The tips and waitlist boxes are optional and don't affect whether you get the template.
What format is it in?
The resume is a Word file (.docx) that also opens in Google Docs (File → Open → Upload). You also get a PDF of the template and the 3-page guide as a PDF. The guide includes notes on editing in both Word and Google Docs, like keeping the right-aligned dates intact.
Is it for US or Hong Kong / Singapore applications?
The template is set up for US analyst and summer analyst applications: US Letter, one page, no photo or personal details.
In Hong Kong and Singapore, norms vary by firm. Some applications have historically asked for more personal details, so check each firm's own guidance rather than assuming. The guide has a short section on applying in Hong Kong and Singapore (photos, personal details, languages, A4 page size, dates and degree classifications). A clean one-page version like this one is a good base either way. If you want more region-specific material, tick the waitlist box and choose HK/SG.
I don't have a banking internship yet. Is it still useful?
Yes. The guide has a section on leading with finance-adjacent work and turning non-finance jobs into banking signal, with example bullets for each.
